Cartography - Data Journalism - Design
Hi! I'm a cartographer and data journalist passionate about bringing contemporary visualization tools, cartographic theory, and data together for ethical and accessible visual storytelling.
I received my M.S. at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where my research centered on counter-mapping, data journalism, and Guatemala-US migration. While completing my thesis, I also worked as a graphics editor at NPR designing visual stories, maps, and interactive graphics. I previously received a B.A. in English and American Literature from Middlebury College.
I'm currently working as a freelance data journalist and particularly interested in covering extractivism, environmental movements, and migration in Latin America. You can find me on Twitter and Github, or reach me at nunderwood6@gmail.com.
